Innovation Port 2040: With innovative strength and quality to sustainable value creation

The Port of Hamburg is the heart of Hamburg's and northern Germany's economy. It is of fundamental importance for the economic strength of Germany as an export nation and for security of supply at national and European level. To ensure that the port can continue to fulfill these important tasks and be successful in the future, the course must be set today for the coming decades.

To this end, the Hamburg Senate adopted a new port development plan on 13.06.23, thereby defining the strategic guidelines for port policy in the coming years. Further information on the Port Development Plan 2040: hafen2040.hamburg

The Port Development Plan 2040 shows how Germany's largest seaport will continue to reliably secure its economic strength and security of supply at national and European level and how it will exploit its opportunities and potential - in a value-added-oriented and sustainable manner. It identifies global trends, local framework conditions and social and economic developments and shows how the port will respond to these developments.

The port development plan defines guidelines for the necessary transformation processes, specifies concrete fields of action, objectives (Part 1) and measures (Part 2). The complete port development plan and an abridged version can be downloaded here:
