Frequent questions during the application phase

We would like to make sure all your questions centred round your application are answered. Which is why we have compiled a list of questions that are most frequently asked during the recruiting process – and their answers. If anything is unclear, please get in touch with the respective contact person for the job description.

1. You would like to apply

We prefer to receive online applications. It’s not only easy, it is also the fastest way to success – for you and us. You can conveniently upload your attachments, such as CV and covering letter, in all standard formats. Please understand that we unfortunately cannot accept applications via email.

Your current CV, a short covering letter, your most recent references and your school-leaving report card, as well as any certificates. They can be conveniently uploaded in all standard formats.

No, there is no closing date. As soon as a position has been filled, we remove the job description.

As long as the job description is listed, the job is still open.

Please apply to each position separately with a short covering letter. Usually, the jobs are for different business units or the applications go to different managers.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept any proactive applications, as our job offers are based on need. If you cannot find a matching job at the moment, you can apply to our Jobalert, which notifies you of new open positions.

A good ability to communicate in German is a prerequisite (at least level C1).

2. You were invited to an interview

As a public institute, we cannot cover your travel expenses.

An interview usually lasts an hour.

To receive an impression that is as comprehensive as possible, several stakeholders participate in the interview as part of our process. These include representatives from the specialist field, the staff council and recruiting, as well as the handicapped employee representative if applicable.

No, we would like to get to know you during the interview. You do not have to prepare anything in advance.

3. You have met with us personally

We do all we can to give you feedback as soon as possible after an interview.

We store the documents in our system at first and delete them in line with the privacy policy agreement after six months.

4. You are interested in an internship

Please apply online to our job “Student Internship (m/w/d)” and provide the date you wish to start as well as your field of interest. We will check with the respective department to see if we can provide an internship and then get in touch with you.

We generally offer internships. However, it is unfortunately not possible to combine an internship with your application for an apprenticeship.
