Apart from the railway, roads are an important mode of transport in the port. Except for the autobahn (motorway) network, the HPA is in complete charge of managing all facilities: The organisation makes sure that all road traffic facilities, inclusive of bridges, are fully operational, reviews and assesses the necessity and costs of maintenance measures and develops new areas by building new roads as required.
