Apart from major infrastructure projects to extend capacities, the HPA also continuously increases the efficiency and productivity of existing port infrastructure by constructing new and maintaining existing facilities. The aim is to re-structure old port facilities, the use of which no longer creates value, and adapt them to the changing requirements of the international shipping and transport industry.
Whereas port-operating companies modernise their own operation and cargo handling facilities incorporating state-of-the-art technology, the HPA builds infrastructure in accordance with current demand, such as quay walls, pontoon facilities, pilings, bridges, roads, buildings, develops land areas and implements communications systems.
