Data privacy statement for the website

Data privacy
The HPA takes the protection of your personal data extremely seriously. We want you to know when and what data we are collecting and how we use it. Technical and organisational measures have been taken to ensure that the data privacy regulations are observed both by ourselves and by our service providers.

During the further development of our web pages and the implementation of new technologies it may be that changes to this data privacy statement become necessary. Therefore, we recommend that from time to time you read through this data privacy statement again.

Stored data
At some places on our website, your are requested to enter personal data in forms (e.g. to register for a newsletter or in an online survey). We require this information in order to meet your wishes. You can decide freely whether you wish to enter this data or not. Your personal data is not combined or compared with other data, rather it is only used for the purposes desired by you. Further storage of the data does not take place.

Forwarding of personal data
Personal data, which has been logged during access to the HPA's website, is only transferred to third parties outside the HPA insofar as we are obliged to do so by law or by a court order, or the forwarding is necessary, in the event of attacks on the Internet infrastructure of the HPA, for the purposes of legal or criminal prosecution. Forwarding to third parties for any other purposes does not take place.

Use of cookies
The website of the HPA uses temporary session cookies, comprising a sequence of numbers used to identify you (ID) during a session. These data are used, for example, to maintain the font size set by you or the data you have already entered in form fields. The session cookie loses its validity upon closing of the web browser and is automatically deleted.

Most browsers are set up so that they automatically accept cookies. You can set up your browser so that you can decide on a case by case basis whether you wish to accept cookies or you can exclude the use of cookies completely.

Web analysis services / Google Analytics
The Hamburg Port Authority uses Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies that make possible an analysis of your use of the web pages. The information created by the cookies is transferred to one of Google's servers in the USA and saved. The Hamburg Port Authority uses Google Analytics with the extension "_anonymizeIp()" so that the IP addresses transferred to Google can only be further processed in shortened format, to prevent them being directly linked to a particular individual.

Google will not under any circumstances use your IP address in conjunction with other Google data. You can also prevent the insertion of cookies for Google Analytics using the settings in your browser software.

Data collection and storage for Google Analytics can be revoked at any time and excluded for the future.

Note on web communications
The transmission of the online forms used in the website of the HPA takes place, as does the sending of emails, without encryption. It is therefore possible that your data may be intercepted by unauthorised persons and viewed, changed or deleted. As the HPA cannot, at the current time, offer a secure connection or data encryption, you should, if you do not want to take this risk, use another means of communication. Otherwise the transfer of data takes place at your own risk.
